Methodology
The Shireen Observatory collects and analyzes data published by official and human-rights institutions — governmental and non-governmental, local and international — concerning the violations committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
What the Observatory is — and isn't
The Observatory does not in any way seek to duplicate the work of these institutions or to dismiss their efforts; rather, it provides a platform that summarizes, aggregates, and presents this data through interactive tools. It is therefore a media platform under the umbrella of data journalism, not a vehicle for legal or human-rights documentation.
Because the criteria used vary from one institution to another, we at the Observatory chose to provide data from multiple sources — without duplicating or omitting any of them — and to make the data available in full detail, leaving it to the user to choose which criteria to view it under.
A note on data accuracy
The accuracy of the data depends entirely on the sources from which it was collected; the Observatory bears no responsibility in this regard, as the data is presented exactly as gathered from those sources.
